Prelude                                     O Come , O Come Emmanuel

Opening Hymn                      Waymaker

Lenten Reading Matthew 24:36-44                                           Nancy M and Andrew S

Call to Worship                    (based on Matthew 24:36-44)

Ldr:   We gather in this sacred hour, not knowing what tomorrow holds,

Ppl:   But trusting in the One who holds all our tomorrows.

Ldr:   Keep awake, for we do not know the day or the hour,

Ppl:   We stay alert, watching for signs of God’s coming kingdom.

Ldr:    In the ordinary moments—working in the fields, preparing our daily bread—

Ppl:   We remain ready, for God breaks into our lives when we least expect.

Ldr:   Like Noah building an ark while others went about their business,

Ppl:   We prepare our hearts, even when the world around us is unaware.

Ldr:   No one knows the day—not the angels, not even the Son,

Ppl:   So we live each day in faithful expectation, ready to welcome Christ.

Ldr:   Therefore, keep awake! Be ready!

Ppl:   For the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.

All:   We worship the God of surprises, who comes to us in unexpected ways. Let us be watchful, faithful, and ready. Amen.
