Call to Worship (based on Luke 3:15-17;21-22)
Leader: Come, all who are waiting expectantly, searching for hope and truth. Like those in John’s day, we may wonder where salvation will come from.
People: We rejoice that our Savior has come, One more powerful than we can imagine, who meets our deepest needs.
Leader: John baptized with water, calling people to repentance, but Jesus comes to baptize us with the Holy Spirit and fire.
People: We open our hearts to be purified, renewed, and empowered by His Spirit today.
Leader: As Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened, and the Holy spirit descended like a dove.
People: In our own lives, we long for the presence of the Spirit to guide us, comfort us, and remind us of God’s love.
Leader: And the voice of the Father declared, “You are my son, whom I love; with You I am well pleased.”
People: We stand in awe, knowing that through Christ, we too are called beloved children of God.
All: Let us worship with joy and gratitude, for Jesus brings salvation, the Holy Spirit empowers us, and the Father call us His own!

Memory Verse
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
John 3:17
What does it mean to believe in Jesus?
Jesus said it’s as simple as hearing what He says and believing He is who He said he is and did everything He promised He would do.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus said:“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)
This may be the clearest statement in the Bible that people have eternal life the moment they believe in Jesus Christ. We can imagine a line in the sand with Jesus on one side and everyone else on the other. The moment of faith is like taking Jesus’ hand and crossing over the line of faith to His side.
Some people think they’re right with God because they’re moving toward the line. With age, perhaps, they’re becoming more kind, caring and compassionate. But moving toward the line isn’t the same as crossing over the line. You can move toward the line your entire life and die on the wrong side of it.
Others think they’re right with God because they’re very close to the line. Perhaps they go to church, give money, and sing in the choir. But being close to the line isn’t the same as crossing over the line. You could be close to the line your entire life and die on the wrong side of it.
Crossing over the line is taking the hand of Jesus and saying, “I believe in you, Lord, and I’m coming over to your side today.” You don’t have to know all the answers to all the questions, but simply believe Jesus holds the answers and you give as much of yourself as you know to as much of Jesus as you can understand—and step across the line of faith.
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’ve been, what you’ve done, how many times you’ve done it—or even how many times you do it in the future. The moment you believe in Jesus Christ you have eternal life.
From that moment on, we’re called to live our lives in response to the grace we’ve received—and stay on Jesus’ side of the line!
