Call to Worship                    (based on Matthew 5:1-12)

Ldr:     When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up the mountain,    and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He  began to teach them, saying:

Ppl:     “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the  kingdom of heaven.”

Ldr:     We come acknowledging our need for God, empty of  our own righteousness.

Ppl:    “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be  comforted.”

Ldr:    We come bringing our sorrows and griefs to the One  who heals.

Ppl:    “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the  earth.”

Ldr:    We come in humility, seeking not our own glory but  God’s kingdom.

Ppl:    “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for          righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Ldr:    We come longing for God’s justice and holiness in our  lives and in our world.

Ppl:    “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.”

Ldr:    We come to worship the God of compassion and grace.

Ppl:   “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

Ldr:     We come to behold His face and know His presence.

Ppl:     “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be             called children of God.”

Ldr:     We come as God’s people, ambassadors of His rec-            onciling love.

All:      Let us worship the Lord who blesses, trans    forms, and calls us into His kingdom!

Mt Zion Food Cupboard has a workday on  Thursday 2-13 from 9-11 am. Food giveaway will be on Saturday 2-15 from 9 to 11 am.
